Hello Beautiful Friends!
Let’s talk about sneakers! From Gola to Golden Goose, Converse to couture! Fashion sneakers are checking all of the boxes for our outfits. From leggings and sweats to skirts and dresses, the fashion sneaker revolution is going strong.
And what a revolution. Fashion sneakers bring comfort and joy all year long! While stilettos will always have a place in my closet, the fact that I can wear sneakers with a dress is hard to pass up. We are all going to have our favorite style of sneaker that we are comfortable wearing – the variety is endless. You can stay simple or go full on statement shoe! Preppy, sporty, edgy, a shoe to suit any taste. Most brands have a classic white shoe in their arsenal.
One womans Golden Goose is another womans Superga. I’ve rounded up several different styles for you as well as ways to wear them. Let me know which ones are your favorites!
My friend Sarah (fabfindsbysarah.com) got me addicted to Golden Goose Deluxe Brand sneakers. People will often ask me if they are worth the price tag…you have to decide that for yourself. I will offer up some pros and a con to help you out. Contrary to the onset of the Golden Goose craze, you can now find them included in sales from time to time with retailers and boutiques alike.
Golden Goose Pros
- Quality – Francesca Rinaldo and Alessandro Gallo are the designers of these full Italian leather shoes – each hand made in Italy.
- Style – the overall style is just the epitome of everything a street-style sneaker should be — sporty (but chic), an abundance of unique colors, options, and combinations, and just the right amount of scuffing.
- Dreamy — the foot bed is slightly cushioned & the laces can be worn more loosely.
- Not like the rest – there are a limited number of each style run, which means you have something unique. The intentional distressing makes them perfectly worn from the start.
Golden Goose Con
- Not a budget friendly option. They are $300+.
Further explanation: I don’t know what else I could say about them that I dislike other than the investment! I beleive in buying high quality over fast fashion. I want things that are going to last and that I feel great about over something that will last a season and then fall apart and go to the garbage – not cool on the sustainability scale. And while some of these sneakers are considered trendy, I don’t think this one is going anywhere anytime soon! So maybe you save up to splurge on a pair – go for something classic. You can get a simple black or white pair and change their look by adding some colored laces!
If these are absolutely not an option for you, there is an assortment of dupes that recieve positive reviews. Vintage Havana (around $100) or Steve Maddens take on these kicks come to mind. Other dupe options include Red Dress ($34), Goodnight Macaron, Shein ($30-$50), and even Walmart ($45). So what is a dupe? A dupe is an item (shoe, purse, jewelry, clothing…) that gains its inspiration from a name brand product. This dupe often bears close resemblance to its designer inspiration without proprietary brand detail (like the logo, and trinkets). The designer look-alike often times includes a few adjustments or modifications to look like the original brands style – the classic star on the side and distressing are changed somewhat, but the materials and quality are what really sets them apart aside from a real authentic product. Another brand that mimics Golden Goose style is the very popular P448 brand. They are probably the highest quality version, but also the most expensive under the Golden Goose at around $200-$300.
Truth be told, everyone from Madewell to Manolo Blahnik has a sneaker in the game. It is all a matter of personal style!
